Summary
One of the most popular of gentleman detectives, Bulldog Drummond was the creation of Herman Cyril McNeile and was featured in his series of novels from the 1920s through the 1950s as well as a string of successful films. The debonair Ronald Colman depicts the WWI veteran-turned detective to perfection, earning an Academy Award nomination and returning once more in 1934's Bulldog Drummond Strikes Back. In his debut performance in the title role, Colman comes to the rescue of Phyllis Benton (Joan Bennett) whose uncle is kept hostage at a sanitarium. Nearly dying at the hands of the evil Dr. Lakington (Lawrence Grant), Drummond comes through and defeats the doctor and his henchman Peterson (Montagu Love).
